This hour long VO2 Max Test is considered by some to be the ultimate indicator of cardio respiratory fitness. VO2 Max is the maximum amount of oxygen consumed by the body. The CardioCoach Plus uses the VO2 max along with the client's age to determine cardio respiratory fitness level. Cardio Coach Plus

The CardioCoach Plus provides the Run Fast client
with the following benefits:

The body can supply adequate oxygen to the muscles up to a certain exercise intensity threshold. This is called the anaerobic threshold. Exercising below this threshold should be possible for long periods of time. Training at a level above the threshold will necessarily be of short duration. The objective of anaerobic interval training should be to adjust the anaerobic threshold upward, making it possible to train at high intensity levels for a longer period of time. The CardioCoach plus is able to accurately measure an individual's anaerobic threshold.

The CardioCoach Plus report includes a table indicating how many calories a client expends at a specific exercise heart rate level. No more estimates from the treadmill!

How is the report different for each test?

Well, the V02 max / Threshold combined test basically measures how efficient someone currently is at utilizing oxygen. It tells someone what their fitness aptitude is and helps their coach identify proper training paces, race goal times, etc. This result can be improved via the appropriate workouts, etc. The RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) test on the other hand is used to determine how many calories someone burns while at rest in a 24 hour period as well as how many calories they burn at different exercise intensities per hour. With this value I can devise a meal plan and daily caloric intake as well as event specific caloric intake (marathon for example) according to their unique, individual needs. It is great for weight loss goals as well as sport specific goals. For example, it will tell me how many calories per hour Sally Smith burns during an effort where her intensity is at 75% of max heart rate. Now I know how to guide Sally on how often and how much she should eat/drink before, during, and after her next marathon (and how she should practice for that in training).
